Have you ever read “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle? That book opened me up to the concept of awareness. I remember Oprah doing so many shows about it years ago, and I read the book throughout college. It talks a lot about “the ego” which is the attention seeking, negative Nancy, and drama loving part in all of us. The ego loves to be fed with negativity, self-loathing, and pain. It thrives off of sucking the energy out of us.
Feed the soul, drown out the ego. Happy Sunday! Have a great week!

Hey! I found your blog while I was looking for vitamin D deficiency and hair loss… I’ve been losing my mind because I have the same problem and I don’t know what to do anymore, I can’t even go out and have fun with friends because I’m so depressed. I’ve taking vitamin D for a week and I haven’t seen any results yet. How long did it take for your hair to stop falling out and grow normally again? How is your hair now? Thank you so much for that post, it made me feel a little more hopeful.
ps.: I’m sorry for my bad English, I’m still learning.

Hi Janaina,
It took a couple of weeks for my hair to stop shedding, and a few months for me to tell the difference in thickness. Get out and get some sun, because 50% of our vitamin D comes from the sun! My hair now is great, I shed normally and my health is the best it has been. Take 2000IU of Vitamin D every day, and you will see the change if deficiency is the problem.
Lots of love and hope,
Brittny

Thank you, Brittny! You’re super sweet! I believe this is the problem, I got my blood test results and my doctor said my vitamin D levels were too low. Did your hair recover the thickness entirely? I have some bald spots and I’m afraid it will never get back to normal again, it’s super scary. Thank you again, it’s nice to have someone to talk to…

actually yes. my bald spots have recovered. the thickness isn’t as big as when I was little but my hair is still thick, and very long.

Hi Brittny! I hope I’m not bothering you… I’ve been taking vitamin D for a month and a half and although i’ve seen a subtle improvement, it’s not noticeable enough to say the vitamin D is working. How long did it take for your hair to stop falling out? My bald spots are getting bigger and bigger and I’m scared to death that it might be genetic or something. I’m starting to look for wigs on ebay. It’s so depressing and weird that a hair loss can cause so much pain.
Lots of love,
Janaina

I feel your pain, Janaina. It took about 2 weeks for my hair to begin to stop falling out as much. And in 2 months it started growing back. Hair growth cycles are long and slow. Decrease the stress levels in your life as best you can. How is your health, other than the hair loss?
And you’re definitely not bothering me! I’m sorry to take so long to respond.

Everything else is fine, I eat well and work out everyday and the results of my blood test came out normal, other than the vitamin D. After a month and a half taking the vitamin, nothing’s changed. I guess that means vitamin D deficiency isn’t the issue, right? I’m also trying as hard as I can to calm down… It’s weird that I haven’t seen any improvements yet.
Still, it’s really nice to talk to someone about this, it’s such a relief. Thank you for being so kind and sweet!

Yes, she did! It was normal… I’m taking 1600 IU/day of vitamin D3 and everyday I go out in the sun for at least 15 minutes. Did you take approximadetely the same dose? I’m also ingesting linseed oil, which have omega 3 and 6.

oh great!!! I think I did 2000 IU. and stress was also a huge contributor to my hair loss. I stress soooo much and internalize my problems instead of talking to friends and family. I’ve gotten better about it!

I’m gonna try to do the same thing and keep my head up. What is killing me is that I had high hopes on the vitamin D thing. I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer.
Thank you once again!
