Love it back!

The other day someone made a comment about my appearance and muscle tone.  I don’t remember her exact words, but it was something to the effect of “I would never want to have muscle like you.  You have too much muscle.”

It really saddens me that women have such a negative perspective on muscle.  I understand that I’m a raging feminist and I am all for girl power, and not all women feel like that.  But girl power aside, having a strong muscular system is HEALTHY.  As you get older, you run the risk of less injuries, less falls, and less broken bones.  Your metabolism will stay elevated, and you can afford to eat a few more calories in the day. You can carry all of your grocery bags in the door at once, instead of making 3 trips back and forth to the car.  And not to mention what it will do for your physical fitness level and your self esteem.

There is a new wave of physically fit women taking over the world!  And the more I have exposed myself to this world, the more I am so proud of my strong body.

But it’s healthy and it’s strong.
And it will knock you the f*ck out if you abuse animals.

Beauty is within.  Some of the most unconventionally beautiful people blow me away with their beauty.

The more I say and think of the word “BODY BUILDING,” it makes me so excited to be lifting weights.  I’m building my body!  You would think that as an adult, you are fully grown and unable to grow anymore.  But body building is the exception, and I love it.

I was going through some recent “before” pictures on my iPhone.  Every  time I go shopping and sometimes randomly at home I take pictures/video to track my progress.  Although the progress isn’t huge (I don’t expect this to happen overnight), I can see how my muscle mass has improved.  I’m not aiming to lose weight, and I haven’t weighed myself in months.  I’m aiming to gain speed, muscle, and mental strength.  I think the scale is a dangerous tool that many people become obsessed with.  The number on the scale tells you nothing about muscle mass, your mental clarity, and the state of your spiritual health.  I’m so much farther on this journey than I’ve ever been, all because of strength training.
