Good morning!

I’ll be 25 years old this year. It’s about time I started dressing like it.

My breakfast was slamming.  I have this thing for adding nut butter to my green smoothies.  Try it, seriously.

Speaking of leafy greens, I have been consumed with apartment hunting.

Any outlet for renting an apartment - believe me I’ve tried it.

It’s just so bloody expensive to live here. And finding a vegetarian/vegan roommate in a world full of weird creepy dirty people is like pulling teeth.  I had a man email me asking to be my daddy.  Not kidding.  But I’ve been reminded of this post, where I declared as long as I have a tiny apartment, a job I love, and food.

And I actually visited Virginia Beach, VA this weekend (Home of the Shamrock Marathon and VB Rock N Roll Marathon).  I fell in love with that city.   It’s a vegan runner’s city.

It’s definitely a lot “cleaner” and spacious than Norfolk, even though they practically overlap as cities.

There are SO MANY runners here.  Basically any time of day, there are handfuls of them on the street.  “Sharing the sidewalk” is my middle name.

Special shout out to my family who is taking care of my baby, Gravy.

He looks happy and not completely depressed without me, right?

My older sister and I are really close and I had initially invited her to share in this with me.  However, the night before the Coldplay Myolo Xyloto concert, we had an argument.  We definitely needed a day or two to cool off, so I was in serious search for a new date.  I looked no further than my little sister, who is in love with the song “PARADISE” by Coldplay!  That should be enough to get her to come with me, yeah?

It was the perfect date for the perfect concert.

We first stopped off at my favorite running shoe store in Houston – The Texas Running Company.  I tried on some shoes, and the sales person/professional runner there told me I am currently in the wrong shoe size.  I was previously fitted for a 9, but I should be in a 9 wide.  Damn those bunions.

Happy Mom’s Day!

Whether you are a mom or not, I hope you are having a relaxing & beautiful day.  I ran a few miles this morning with my older sister and nephew!  I’ve convinced my entire family to run a marathon with me, even the kids.  I consider my powers of persuasion in running a marathon my one & only talent.

And this is exactly what I’m doing for the rest of today:

Ha ha ha!  Happy Sunday, y’all.

xoxo

Today was the perfect run.

It wasn’t my fastest.  But my stride felt comfortable.  My breathing was on point.  And I was completely relaxed in the run.  My body was tired on the 3rd mile, but at mile 4, I gained some crazy energy.

Favorite Tip: Wearing a hat keeps your head cool when the sun is bearing down.

I think mile 3 was a 10 min mile, and mile 4 was an 8 min mile!  Sick.

I haven’t been to the gym to strength train in about a week.  It’s been a nice break for me because my quads have FINALLY stopped aching.  I’m a little terrified to go back tomorrow and begin training with a more subtle routine.  I’m thinking kitten, not lion.

Leg Appreciation Moment:

My legs take me where I need to go, and they get shit done.  Besides my huge brain, they’re the strongest part of my body.  I can drop kick a ninja.  Shop till I drop.  Chase after my dreams. And squat the weight of my nephew!

Why do you appreciate your legs?  Or other parts of your body?

I took a little trip with my sisters and my nephew to the beach in Rockport, Texas!

It was absolutely perfect.

Dylan, my baby boy, was too precious today.

He and I like to do push-up contests.  It gets serious.

His form was so bad, so I had to stop and correct him.

My little sister wanted to challenge me too.  Bring it, sista.

Then, the fun part.  Dylan and I raced!  We always do this, but I used to win.

Ha ha ha.  I was struggling at the end.  I know Dylan is an athlete, but I’m crossing my fingers he will go into track and distance running!

I was so beat by kids, I needed to rest under the shade for the rest of the day.

We are going to church tomorrow, after I attempt to wake up at 5AM for a run!  Are you running on Easter Sunday?

xoxo

Hey y’all!  I really like the idea of starting this new routine of posting OLD SCHOOL pictures of me and my life over the last few years.  I was going through some really old photos, and found this one.

April 2001.  I was 12 years old and thought I was cool.  Obviously, I was not.

What were you doing during the Spring of 2001?  Let’s take it back!

While babysitting Audra today, I found her messing with my makeup! Agh!

Then she wanted to do my makeup!

Ha ha! Hilarious.

Three years ago, my family and I went to the Houston Rodeo to see Taylor Swift.  I was 20 years old.  My little sister was 5, and my nephew was 4. Wow!  So young.

I had just begun running in January 2009, and the rodeo was in March of that year.

Today, I had the coolest job of being a chaperone at Audra, my little sister’s, field trip.

We came to this beautiful scenario out of the 1800′s with camels, Indians, pilgrims, and farmers.

If you know me, you’d know this is my kinda party.

Outfit of The Day :)

The Indian just about made my day.  He carved his own arrows, built his own furniture, and made his own jewelry.  He was LEGIT.

Audra made a point to point at me & yell at the farmer: “My sister doesn’t eat cow because she’s a vegan!”  DAMN RIGHT.

Yes, he's really teaching us how to milk a cow. And breaking my vegan heart at the same time.

PRICELESS.

Days like today, you don’t get very often.

Have you ever been on a school field trip?  It makes me realize how UN-READY I am for children at this point in my life!  Phew!

xoxo
