Training

My skin is very oily, so I went to Sephora searching for a way to control my glossy face. My local Sephora gave me a ton of free sample makeup primers to try! (Gotta L O V E! Sephora.) Primers help to control oil and shine throughout the day and also help your makeup stand the test of time. Score!

I have fallen in love with Benefit Pore-fessional primer and Tarte clean slate primer. I also use Too Faced Shadow Insurance eye shadow primer.

In addition to primers, I use Tarte’s Amazonian Clay waterproof all natural makeup foundation. I absolutely love it!!!

Sweat proof makeup. Now for the hair? That’s another challenge for another day. ;-)

I love doing this move and also supplementing the bench with an exercise ball! The exercise ball will cause you to use your abdominals for stability whereas the bench will not.

I can’t sleep in anymore. I guess this is the tell tale sign of being an adult. So I woke up, ate breakfast and came to the gym for HIIT, squats, and dumbbells. Now, I feel like throwing up. My body isn’t used to this intensity so early in the morning.

Another day in the life of a runner….

Today was full of stressors – at work and in life.  I went for a 3 mile run this morning to try and combat the stress.  But those endorphins only lasted so long, and then I began to internalize the stress.  Instead of realizing I was feeling down because of work related issues, I distracted myself from all of that by feeling bad about my body.  It’s been rather difficult keeping up with priorities while still preparing all of my vegan meals in advance.  Some days I am travelling hours between cities for work, and my workouts haven’t been as intense as I’d like.  I’ve gained weight.  My energy is so low.

I kept thinking these negative thoughts instead of positive ones!  Such as:

- I’ve noticed my HIIT sessions on the treadmill are now ranging from 6.2 – 10.0 MPH.

- And I’m able to run during HIIT longer before having to stop and walk.

- I can curl more weight than ever.

- I exercise every single day, because it’s truly my sanity.

- And then, I went to the gym today – and truly saw myself in the mirror.  I looked myself in the eyes, and said “YOU ARE REALLY DOING THIS!  THERE IS SO MUCH POWER IN YOU.”

I started going through my iPhone in between reps and noticed a little difference in the tone of my muscles.  It made me feel so proud and realize all of the positive things about my training!  THIS IS WHY TAKING PROGRESS PHOTOS IS SO IMPORTANT!  They are like an instant reminder of how far you have come.

I’m going to be posting better progress photos later this week!  And hopefully my exercise schedule will soon follow.  I’m working on getting someone to take some photos of me during my workout to show what moves I do!  Thanks again for all of the support and encouragement.  It means the WORLD to me.  God bless!

I love going to the gym to work on my fitness.

And it doesn’t hurt that the gym is full of hot (and I mean HOT) men.

And then there’s me.  Creepin’ it up!  Staring at the man candy.

The next time you feel like skipping a workout sesh, I hope you are equally as motivated as I am by the muscle fest that is the gym.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

This week was the first time I strength trained 3 times in a week.  I incorporated days of walking and running in between, and I can feel soreness lingering every day.  But I haven’t been limping and/or terribly sore.  So, I think that means I’m ready to add more weight and/or reps next week!

The gym manager let me workout for FREE today! Yay!

I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried some new moves!  Heyo!  Among my usual squats, dumbbell exercises & 20 mins on the elliptical, I bench pressed 55 pounds (Olympic size bar + 10 pounds), did walking lunges while carrying 30 pounds (curl bar + 5 pounds), curled the curl bar + 5 pounds, and did crab crawl toe touches.

me & my BOSU ball are in love.
I squat really really low on this, and hold. I wasn’t able to hold the camera steady enough while I was going that low. But you get the idea?

Most of my new moves were learned from Zuzana’s YouTube channel.

And this new video in particular:

I was doing this routine in the gym while the men were sticking to their boring machines.  They were staring at me like “This girl is crazy!”  Ha ha ha!  I’ve definitely gotten comfortable in this new gym, and I’m constantly moving around trying and often failing at new moves.  It’s the best feeling ever!

xoxo
