Things get scary when I’m all alone in the gym. I start doing exercises I’ve been afraid to do in front of others.

Today I worked out in my Laredo hotel. I’m here visiting for a few days for work. Tonight I might go running outside but I hear that’s dangerous around here…

Being vegan is such a blast.  It’s as if I have been reborn, learning a new way of living and meeting so many incredible people.  I truly believe age is all relative, and it’s all in your mind.  New experiences are what keep us young, wild, and free. Here are some of the great vegan treats and eats I have enjoyed this spring!

Random trip to Corpus Christi to get vegan chocolate at 10 PM.

Tofurky pizza is the most amazing thing ever.  They are quite pricey ($4.99), so I need to make these at home more often.

I love using sprouts in my cooking.  They add an unexpected crunch to a normally soft texture.

LOL!

This is like eating a brownie and drinking milk with it.  Warm the LARABAR in the microwave if you like warm brownies :)

I ran on the beach for the first time in my life.

Green shorts on St. Patrick's Day for the win!

I’m sold.  Ship me off to the ocean and leave me there to float in the wind.

I couldn’t believe how freeing and unbelievably beautiful it was.  To run with the ocean beside me.

I ran a total of 3 miles, bringing my weekly mileage to 16!

I have my eye on a half marathon next month.  I will hopefully be doing a 10K race with J on Easter weekend!  I can’t wait to race again, you have no idea.  Wait.  If you’re reading this, you probably have every idea.

The Houston Livestock Rodeo

is a favorite past time.  I remember the first time I ever went was to see a Brian McKnight concert.  Remember when his song “Back At One” was the biggest hit?  Kenny Chesney, Destiny’s Child, Taylor Swift are a few others I have seen at the Houston Rodeo.

On Sunday March 4th, my older sister and I took Audra to see Big Time Rush.

I wore my outfit to match Audra’s outfit. Cause that’s what sisters do.

You get 10 BONUS POINTS if you notice I carried my own water bottle with me to the Rodeo!

A few days ago, I went for an incredible run in Dallas, Texas – home of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and the White Rock Marathon.

Running in front of the Dallas Cowboys’ $1.15 Billion facility … FOR THE WIN!

Well, technically it was in Arlington.

A few things.

IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE BACK IN HOUSTON!!!  I’ve spent the last few days here visiting a friend.  Gosh, it’s been so nice to laugh and live again (since, you know…). Today, I knew I’d be driving a long way to Dallas, so I made sure to get a few miles in. I had NO clue where I was going.  I ended up on the feeder road of highway I-10. People were staring at me, typical.  I was lost, typical.  And my knee felt great, not typical but I’ll take it!

Cars were being rude and not letting me pass when it was my turn to run through the intersection. So, I did the Heisman on them.

Taco Runner and I woke up at 5 AM…

to make our trip to Houston.  I packed a blueberry smoothie and spilled it all over my Coach purse and Taco’s car.  It was a WINNING day from the start.

After a few wrong turns, we finally found parking near the Toyota Center for $10 and made a short walk to the George R Brown Convention Center.  I had only been there once to pick up a scholarship during high school.  It was nice to visit again for this amazing event – the Olympic Marathon Trials!

Hey, George R Brown! Do you remember me?

It was uber cold at the start – 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

The course is an uber boring one.

It began with a 2 mile discourse through downtown Houston, followed by 3 8-mile loops through the city of Houston.  I grew up around Houston.  It’s nothing too exciting, unless you call smog, bar-b-que aromas, and potholes exciting.  I don’t.  But the great thing is we got to see the runners FOUR times along the course!!

We found a really nice spot at the mile 10/18/26 mile marker.

Bring it on Vegas, again.

Yesterday, Taco and I enjoyed a wonderful Day 2 in Las Vegas.  We had no plans.  No tickets to any shows.  Only an all day pass to an all-you-can-eat hotel buffet and a digital camera.  We took a but ton of pictures, so grab a cup of green tea and get ready to exercise your scroll fingers!

We took the skywalk that connected our hotel to the New York New York Hotel & Casino.

You might be a runner if you wear Brooks and a Garmin in Vegas.

We then connected to the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino from there.  And oh!  Lions.  Just laying there.  In the middle of the hotel lobby.  Well, if there are strippers in our hotel, I guess lions aren’t that far off.

Hey y’all!

We arrived to Las Vegas this morning at 8AM!  Super early, but right on time.  We’ve gotten to do so much today, and it’s barely day 1.  We’ve heard testimonies of near death experiences from cab drivers, ate dinner at a raw vegan restaurant, seen strippers dance in the lobby of our hotel (as we were walking out), and went to the Expo where I finally met elite marathoner Kara Goucher!   I can’t wait to tell you all about her and show you pictures.

For now, I will leave you with this classy photo.

After running through 8 marathons, I'm a marathon ho! :-)

We’re heading out to the Venetian Hotel & Casino to shake out the muscles in our legs.   From Vegas, have a great night y’all!

xoxo
